This mysterious 3.62 CT star sapphire cabochon center stone in solid platinum is set in a bezel setting. The optical phenomenon responsible for the star sapphire’s shimmering rays is called asterism. Asterism is caused by small inclusions of the mineral rutile. When the light shines on the inclusions on the stone, they create a star-like effect on top.
